These Chili Oil Noodles are a mouthwatering dish featuring savory ground beef, tender wheat noodles, and a flavorful sauce infused with garlic and chili.

This recipe is a perfect combination of convenience and taste, making it an ideal choice for a quick and satisfying meal.

The garlic and scallions add depth and freshness to the dish, while the chili garlic oil provides a subtle kick of heat. With every bite, you’ll experience a burst of deliciousness that will keep you coming back for more.

Nutritional Attributes:

While indulging in this flavorful dish, you’ll also reap some health benefits. Lean ground beef provides a good source of protein, essential for muscle growth and repair.

The garlic in the recipe offers antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, contributing to overall wellness.

Additionally, the scallions provide vitamins and antioxidants, enhancing the nutritional profile of the dish.

Scallions are rich in several vitamins, including Vitamin C for immune support, Vitamin K for bone health, Vitamin A for vision, Vitamin B6 for brain function, and folate for cell growth.

Preparation Work:

For optimal efficiency, it’s recommended to cook the wheat noodles according to package instructions before starting the stir-fry.

Additionally, prepare the flavorful sauce blend consisting of 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce, 1 1/2 tablespoons of light soy sauce, 1 1/2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and 1 tablespoon of Shaoxing wine.

This ensures that all ingredients are ready to go once you begin cooking, streamlining the process and allowing for a smooth and efficient cooking experience!

Ingredients & Alternatives:

Protein:

  • Ground Beef: Opt for lean ground beef for a healthier option. Alternatively, you can use ground chicken, turkey, or tofu for a vegetarian alternative. I prefer ground beef because I believe it works well with the chili garlic oil.

Vegetables:

  • Garlic: Freshly minced garlic adds a robust flavor to the dish. If you prefer a milder taste, you can reduce the amount of garlic used.
  • Scallions: Thinly sliced scallions add a refreshing crunch and vibrant color to the stir-fry. Feel free to substitute with onions if scallions are unavailable.

Stir-fry sauce:

  • Dark Soy Sauce: Adds depth of color and flavor to the sauce. If unavailable, you can use regular soy sauce as a substitute.
  • Light Soy Sauce: Provides saltiness and umami to the sauce.
  • Brown Sugar: Adds sweetness and helps balance the flavors of the sauce.
  • Oyster Sauce: Offers a rich and savory taste to the sauce. For a vegetarian option, you can use hoisin sauce.
  • Shaoxing Wine: Adds complexity and depth to the sauce. You can substitute with rice vinegar if needed.
  • Chili Garlic Oil: The star of this dish! I am using homemade chili oil. (recipe to come!)

Tips & Tricks:

  • Fresh wheat noodles are preferred for their tender texture and ability to absorb the flavors of the sauce. If unavailable, you can use dried wheat noodles or egg noodles as substitutes.
  • For optimal results, ensure the ground beef is cooked until browned and crispy for added flavor and texture.
  • Feel free to adjust the seasoning and spices according to your taste preferences.

FAQ:

Can I adjust the spiciness level of the dish?

A: Certainly! You can customize the spiciness of the chili oil noodles by adjusting the amount of chili garlic oil drizzled over the dish. Additionally, you can add more or less chili flakes or omit them entirely according to your preference.

Can I make this recipe vegetarian?

To make this dish vegan, simply omit the ground beef and substitute it with your favorite plant-based protein alternative such as crumbled tofu, tempeh, or textured vegetable protein (TVP).

Can I use a different type of meat instead of ground beef?

Yes, you can substitute ground beef with other protein options such as ground pork, ground chicken, or tofu crumbles for a vegetarian version.
